Health and French Cuisine

French Country Adventures are for people in good health who like to walk. If you have concerns about your health and fitness as it relates to an adventure, please inquire before reserving a space. By forwarding a signed Registration form, Terms and Conditions document and deposit, you verify that you do not knowingly have any physical or other conditions or disability that would create a risk for you or for other adventure participants and you agree to inform French Country Adventures if changes to your health occur before your trip. We assume no responsibility for your medical care, however, there are doctors, clinics and hospitals in all of the areas we will be traveling in, should the need arise.

To ensure the safety and comfort of all of our guests we honor a non-smoking policy. Guests who do smoke are asked to refrain from smoking during group activities and honor the smoking policies of all hotels, restaurants and bars within our visiting country.

We will try to accommodate your dietary restrictions and food allergies whenever possible. Vegetarian and vegan meals are available some of the time.

One of the daily joys of traveling in France is eating like the French, à la française. We will follow basic French meal etiquette.

French BreakfastLe petit déjeuner is simple fare: assorted croissants, baguette with butter and jam, yogurt, fresh seasonal fruit, coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

French LunchLe déjeuner is usually the main meal of the day lasting 2 hours or more, consisting of 3-4 courses: an appetizer, main dish, side, occasionally a cheese course, dessert, wine and coffee.

French Dinner – After a day’s pleasurable activities we will return to our hotel for l’apéros, aperitifs and hors d’oeuvres: a selection of local wines, cheeses, patés, olives and other delicious treats purchased from the farmer’s market of the day. Because we’ve eaten sumptuously at mid-day, we will have a light meal in the evening. For those wishing to have a more formal dinner, le diner, we will be happy to make reservations for you at the hotel or a local restaurant depending upon our location.
